TRUST…that is a hard pill to swallow, especially if you’ve experienced broken trust. I think all of us have in some way. Let’s tackle this together. We trust our instincts. We trust the chair will hold us up. We trust our children to tell us the truth. We trust our spouse to love us “til death do us part.” Trust is a necessity in order for a marriage to be strong and good. It has been said that trust is lost in buckets but gained in drops.

When I saw the tree I thought of how it represents us. The tree is naturally covered with bark, which is the protective layer. The bark protects the tree from disease and pests. It is a necessary part for the tree’s survival. We are like this tree in that we cover ourselves with a protective layer. For the tree, it is a good thing. For us, not so good.

This verse packs a big punch of how we should treat one another in love, in our marriage. When I dig deeper into this verse I notice a list of positive attributes, as well as negative attributes. Then I think about how these attributes relate to each other and what it means for our relationship, how we relate to our spouse.
